Kapnick Insurance Group was born in Adrian, Michigan over 60 years ago as one man’s idea, Elmer Kapnick, to provide quality insurance solutions while focusing on customer service.

Elmer Kapnick sets out into uncharted territory
1976
Second generation, Douglas Kapnick named President and purchased business from his father.
1986
Kapnick Insurance Group doubles in size.  A new corporate office is built in Adrian, Michigan.
1990
Douglas Kapnick featured on the front cover of nationally acclaimed magazine and Kapnick is named Agency of the Month.
1991
Southfield location opened.
2001
Kapnick purchases Harbor Benefit Services located in Ann Arbor, Michigan
2003
Business grows to over one hundred employees, third generation Kapnicks are named President and CFO.
2005
Changed company name from Kapnick Insurance and Harbor Benefit Services to Kapnick Insurance Group.
2006
Kapnick Insurance Group celebrates 60 years of business!!
2007
Family ownership of the company transferred to James and Michael when they purchased the remaining shares from their father on January 2, 2007.
2009
(February 4, 2009) - Kapnick Insurance Group announces its partnership with Ufer & Co., a leading Ann Arbor insurance agency. Ufer & Co. will now have the tagline "A member of Kapnick Insurance Group".
2010
Kapnick Insurance Group purchases former LA-Z-BOY Galleries building in Ann Arbor, Michigan - Spring 2011 projected move date. Plus, Kapnick makes the 2010 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America and was named one of the best places to work in insurance by Business Insurance magazine.
