Kapnick
Insurance Group was founded by Elmer Kapnick
in Adrian, Michigan in 1946. Through a commitment
to excellent customer service and active community
citizenship, the agency was a successful personal
and small commercial operation serving the greater
Adrian area. After graduating from the University
of Michigan in 1965, Douglas Kapnick – Elmer’s
son – joined
the six-person operation. Douglas spearheaded
the efforts of growing the commercial book of
business and expanding outside the Adrian area.
In 1974, Douglas purchased the 15-person firm
from his father. Under Douglas’ leadership,
the business blossomed into one of the largest,
most respected agencies in the Midwest. Carrying
on family tradition, Douglas’ two sons
have teamed up with him to help manage and run
the business. Jim is President of Kapnick Insurance
Group, overseeing the entire property & casualty
division including personal lines, commercial
lines and value added services. Mike is Chief
Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer
overseeing the financial interests of the company.
In July 2001, Kapnick
Insurance acquired Harbor Benefit Services,
doubling the size of their benefits operation.
Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Harbor
division was an employee benefits company that
combines aspects of a group life and health
insurance agency with the services of a third
party administrator. They provided design,
communication and administration for traditional,
self-funded and cafeteria plans. In June of
2005 Kapnick Insurance and Harbor Benefit Services
came together as one and changed their name
to Kapnick Insurance Group to better represent
who they are. Stephen Peck resides as President
over Kapnick Insurance Group’s
Benefits Division.
Today, Kapnick’s
100+ employees provide insurance, risk management,
employee benefits and financial strategies worldwide. The company remains
headquartered in Adrian, with additional offices
in Ann Arbor and Southfield, Michigan. An Assurex
Global Partner, the company’s success can
be attributed to their genuine commitment to
their beliefs and values: “We operate with
companywide beliefs in integrity, trust, mutual
respect and open communication.” As an
indication of their success, Accident Fund Insurance
Company of America named Kapnick Insurance their
2004 “Agency
of the Year. ”The Kapnick philosophy is
simple, the same as it was in 1946: Encourage
the brightest insurance professionals to work
harder...to work smarter...to develop the best
solutions for our client partners.
In January of 2007 the third generation of Kapnick
Insurance Group was passed on as the remaining
shares of the company were purchased by Jim Kapnick,
President and Mike Kapnick CFO and COO. |
